The Territory
The Barolo from the municipality of Castiglione Falletto represents the ideal and expressive embodiment of the Barolo DOCG appellation as a whole. Situated in a central geographical position within the production area, the terroir of this municipality combines the distinctive characteristics of the two main slopes of the Langa, uniting the aromatic finesse, floral aromas and freshness typical of the western slope (La Morra and Barolo) with the rigorous structure, longevity, and tannic richness of the eastern slope (Serralunga d’Alba and Monforte d’Alba). The vineyards are situated on hills with a remarkable concentration of ideal slopes and optimal exposures. The soil consists of calcareous clay marls interspersed with a significant proportion of sand, which lightens the soil and gives the Nebbiolo aristocratic tannins that are dense yet velvety. The municipality is home to some of the most celebrated and historic MGAs (Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive, Additional Geographical Mentions) in the appellation, including Villero, Bricco Boschis and Fiasco.
