Barrique number five is, in my opinion, one of the hidden gems of this edition. Although the spotlight is often focused exclusively on the old vines, this wine expresses a quality that comes remarkably close to those heights. It is a wine of great energy and vibrancy, with beautiful aromas and crisp red fruit heralded by an extraordinarily vivid colour in the glass. It has a slender, elegant and agile profile – like that of a dancer. Perhaps it lacks the mass or imposing structure of some of the other barriques, but its architecture is splendidly linear, focused on tension and persistence. This wine has huge potential.
