The Territory
Barolo is the municipality at the heart of the appellation, not only because it lends its name to it but also for historical reasons and for the many local wineries that have contributed to this wine’s success. It was thanks to the Marquises Juliette and Tancredi Falletti that the wine of Barolo began to gain renown. The Barolo produced within this municipality represents the archetype and perfect synthesis of the entire appellation, occupying a stylistic position precisely midway between the elegance of La Morra and the power of Serralunga. Its secret lies in a transitional soil, where the sandy Marls of Sant’Agata meet the compact Sandstone of Diano. The resulting wine shines with an innate harmony: a classic bouquet of dried roses, small red fruits, tobacco and undergrowth, paired with an enveloping structure and a dense yet velvety tannic texture. It is here that legendary and immortal crus such as Cannubi, Castellero and Sarmassa are born.
