Now we’re moving on to barrique number five. Barrique number five is the first barrique in a series of four wines from the lower lying slopes of the Gustava Vineyard. And as one might reasonably expect, in a year with a fair amount of moisture and rain, these four wines are on the slightly lighter side relative to the first four wines and the four wines that we’ll explore next. You can see by the colour that is in fact what’s in the glass. This is all kirsch, small red berries like strawberries, spice, mint, a little bit of white pepper. And then you’ve got this really nice kick of citrus, almost like a blood orange note, that is typical of all these wines in this vintage, again, and the more ethereal, delicate side of Nebbiolo.
