Barrique number seven is really interesting to taste immediately after lots five and six, because here we have a wine that places much more emphasis on the centrality of the fruit than on structural impact. While the two previous wines showed a firmer structure, this wine is more enveloping, round and soft. I see it as one of those wines that requires minimal cellaring and that can be fully enjoyed after just a few years in bottle, precisely because of its generous fruit character. Of course, we’re talking about a young Nebbiolo, so there’s plenty of tannin and structure as well, but the fruit expression is more immediate and open compared to the more tightly wound and introverted style of the preceding lots. This wine is already showing beautifully.
