The Barolos from Vigna Gustava come from south- and south-west-facing areas. Again, we are moving lower in elevation. Barrique number thirteen reveals its character from the outset, even from its appearance in the glass, showing a paler colour and a more agile, lighter structure. Of all the wines so far, I think this is the one that’s going to be most enjoyable at the earliest stage, because it already gives the impression of being open with its beautiful, open aromatics, with notes of tobacco and cedar, and crisp red fruit. The structure is midweight, supported by silky tannins, and taken as a whole, this wine suggests it is likely to mature noticeably faster than some of the other Barolos in this 2025 series. An ideal choice for anyone looking to enjoy a wine that is already relatively resolved in the near term.
