We’ve arrived at barrel 15 now, and I think this is a wine that really encapsulates all of the different aspects, sides, facets of the vintage. It’s aromatic, it’s got a certain bit of a nervous energy to it, really bright red toned fruit with citrus blood orange overtones. It’s a young wine still coming together. There may be some other wines that are a little bit more friendly now, a little bit more approachable, but this to me is what young Nebbiolo in barrel is really all about: it’s an infant, it’s something that’s going to develop in time. I like that wine’s energy and it’s fighting against it a little bit, but in a good sense. And again, these are wines where the aging is going to really determine the final outcome. But today, this is a very pretty wine that shows that lighter style of the year quite nicely.
