Galloni’s Opinion

We’re moving on to barrique number six, which is really fascinating to taste in this context of four wines. Once again, the four wines from the lower lying slopes of the Gustava vineyard all south to south-west facing exposures. Here you can see immediately there’s a little bit more colour and also a little bit more tannin and acid in the perception of the wine. Again, these are young wines. You know, I don’t have the crystal ball to see how they’re going to turn out when they’re, when they’re fully finished. But I very much like the energy here. This is the wine that’s still coming together. But again, that’s really what I would expect to see in this embryonic wine. It’s nine months old. Young Nebbiolo is like this. It’s a little bit brawny and muscular, but at the same time, there’s something really intriguing about the wine and what it has to offer. It’s a wine that really invites that second and third taste, and that’s always really interesting to me.

The project

The Vialli and Mauro Foundation for Research and Sport non-profit was founded in 2003 by Gianluca Vialli and Massimo Mauro with the aim of funding research into ALS, the prevention and treatment of cancer, and the promotion and development of activities to promote the values of sport.

Supporting scientific research into the development of a drug capable of halting the progression of ALS.

ALS – Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a disease that currently has no cure. For this reason, supporting research and contributing to the discovery of a drug capable of blocking its development represents the most important match of all for the Vialli and Mauro Foundation, a match with lives at stake. To date, there is no available cure for ALS, making funding research vital in providing patients with the hope that they will one day be able to recover from this terrible disease. In December 2008, the Vialli and Mauro Foundation joined forces with AISLA APS (the Italian Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association), the Cariplo Foundation and the ETS Telethon Foundation to set up AriSLA ETS, the first ALS research agency, providing 1 million euros every year to support research. Since 2009, AriSLA, the first ALS research agency in Italy, has launched sixteen competitive tenders, investing 15.9 million euros in scientific research and supporting 149 researchers across the country.
