Galloni’s Opinion

Wine number four is the last wine in this flight of the four wines from the historic old vines. And as a reminder, that’s a vine-by-vine selection from mid slope parcels throughout the entire vineyard. Literally a vine-by-vine selection harvested and vinified apart. What’s interesting to me about wine number four is its kind of a bookend to wine number one. Whereas the two and three barriques are a little bit richer and more filled out in the middle, wine number four is more closely linked to wine number one, a little bit lighter, more aromatic, more ethereal expression of Nebbiolo. I tasted these wines a few minutes earlier before we shot this. Now, with a little bit of air, the wine gains a little bit of body, but it still has that nervousness and that energy, again, and a really ethereal and driven expression of young Nebbiolo.

The project

The Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation is a non-profit institution. Among the first private foundations to be opened in Italy, it is an observatory on the artistic trends and cultural languages of the present, where art, music, dance, literature and design intersect.

A machine for playing. This educational project, courtesy of the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation’s Education Department, is aimed at primary schools in the Guarene area for the promotion of contemporary culture and to raise awareness of the need to look after our heritage and protect the environment.

In 2019, the foundation opened the Collina di San Licerio Art Park to the public, a place where installations created by artists from all over the world are scattered between the rows of a young vineyard. The art park is enriched year on year by the addition of new site-specific sculptures, backed by the idea that the children will work on its installations. The project offers ten classes from primary schools in Guarene and Vaccheria the chance to learn about contemporary art and will culminate in a final exhibition held at the Palazzo Re Rebaudengo. The educational pathway is based on art, reading and play. The project’s overall objective is to promote the protection and conscious use of the local environment through contemporary art that respects the landscape, the environment as a whole, and culture. The active involvement of young people and children aims to strengthen relations with the community and incentivise civic participation in cultural life. The actions are split into: – classroom workshops; – a walk in the Collina di San Licerio Art Park; – a final exhibition at the Palazzo Re Rebaudengo.
