Galloni’s Opinion

We’re moving on to barrique number two from the old vines. So here immediately the wine is darker, a little bit richer, and a little bit more filled out. You can tell by the slightly darker tonality of colour, so not a surprise in the tasting. This is a nice progression from barrique number one. Again, slightly darker, kind of red cherry notes, dried flowers, tobacco, incense, a kick of blood orange that is typical in these wines from rainier cooler years. And there’s this really nice balance in this wine.

The project

The ASTRA – Strategie per l’Abitare Sociale ODV association is a third sector body founded in 2025 from the collaboration of fifteen non-profit organisations after an intense period of joint planning.

An alliance to provide a home for the future, the project aims to improve the relationship between owners and tenants, offering support to both parties, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable.

The primary beneficiaries of the ASTRA project are single people and families experiencing housing difficulties or with limited economic capacity. Through projects that target promoting autonomy, these “partially capable” people will be given the opportunity to achieve a state of full solvency and independence, also avoiding the risk of homelessness. The project is intended to cover the entire Ascoli Piceno region and will last for at least three years. In order to resolve issues in the relationship between owners and tenants, a fundamental role can be taken by a third party in guaranteeing that rent is paid, properties are properly maintained and contractual provisions are respected. This third-party role can be played by ASTRA, a newly-established second-level volunteer organisation of a legal nature. The project has been built in part on the establishment of a significant revolving fund, the amount of which will be able to grow over time thanks to contributions from public and private entities. The fund will financially support people and families in difficulty with rents, deposits and condominium fees, providing an individual and flexible repayment plan for every expected payment. The project will also include the establishment of a multi-disciplinary team to work closely with ASTRA to develop a support pathway for every beneficiary (work, financial education and support) aimed at promoting full autonomy and guaranteeing reimbursement of the amounts to the revolving fund. The project is built on a philosophy of replacing welfare with active and regenerative care, guaranteeing economic support and assisting people in recovering their autonomy in order to ensure that the initiative is sustainable and the interventions made are effective.
