It’s amazing to me how Nebbiolo can be such an expressive grape, how it can have so many shades of nuance. We’ve tasted 13 wines until now. This is barrique number 14, but this wine is really unique in a lot of aspects. It has really strong balsamic inflections. So, what I mean by that is signatures of things like pine, menthol, cloves, it’s very spiced. That pairs beautifully with a darker expression of fruit. There’s a fair expression of tan and an energy in this young wine. So, it’s still coming together. But this is a really singular barrique. I mean, it’s really quite amazing how one vineyard can give so many different shows, so many different facets of its expression. But that is really one of the things that makes Nebbiolo such a unique grape in the world. There’s a lot to explore here, and that really beautiful finish with a lot of high tone notes that really finishes on the upper end of the palate. This is a really pretty and expressive wine.

Mother’s Choice is a charity established in Hong Kong in 1987 to support children without families and pregnant adolescents.

In 1986, a series of newspaper articles reported on the alarming number of teenage pregnancies in Hong Kong. This prompted Gary and Helen Stephens and Ranjan and Phyllis Marwah to set up Mother’s Choice. With their hearts devoted to service, love for the city of Hong Kong and the support of many in the community, they opened the doors to Mother’s Choice in 1987. The passion to provide loving, non-judgmental support to the many pregnant teenagers who had no one to turn to has been broadened to provide educational care for children without families and to be a voice of help for them. The vision of Mother’s Choice is bold, but by working together it can be achieved.
