Hey everyone, it’s Antonio Galloni. I’m delighted to present these 2024 Barolos from the historic Gustava vineyard, as part of the 2024 Barolo en Primeur Charitable Auction. It’s hard to believe it’s been five years, but time flies when you’re having fun. As many of you may know, 2024 was a year with some challenges in the vineyard, including rain during most of the year and up through the harvest. That, of course, requires extreme diligence in sorting and in winemaking, and that’s what we’ll find in these wines. In 2024 the wines saw about ten days on the skins. It’s a little bit shorter than normal, but what you would expect in response to a year with these qualities? The wines are fermented in an open top 500 litre tonneau, so when you do that, you get about half of the volume in wine. So that’s how you get each individual barrel. We’re talking about 15 tonneau vinified in this vintage. So that’s a style of making wine that requires an enormous amount of manual work because you’re doing manual pump overs and punch downs. The wines are now about nine months old, so it’s time to have the first taste and see what the 2024 vintage holds. Stay tuned for more!
